GracePoint Sydney

bringing Jesus to the city of Sydney

Pastoral Staff

Eugene HorEugene Hor – Lead English Pastor
Euge has been serving as the lead English pastor with a great ministry team of people who planted GracePoint Burwood and Auburn, the English congregations of the Burwood Chinese Presbyterian Church in Sydney, Australia since 1999.  His passion is to see our city saturated with God glorifying, Bible believing, Jesus loving, Spirit empowered, Missionally engaging, Gospel proclaiming church plants, and a new generation of leaders raised to make that a reality. Having completed his B.Sc in computer science and philosophy at UNSW, and his B.Th at Moore Theological College, he completed his MA (Theology) at the Presbyterian Theological Centre, and is currently working on a D.Min through Fuller Seminary in California. You can visit his website at www.thereformission.net

Owen Seto – Assistant English Pastor
Owen was born in Brisbane, raised in Papua New Guinea and has lived in Sydney since high school. Apart from spending time with his wife, Cassandra, Owen enjoys going to the beach, reading Christian biographies, and supporting the Wallabies through thick and thin. Owen came to know God from a young age and is passionate about seeing people come to know and love Jesus. After working for 3 years as an accountant, he was one of the first apprentices under the Ministry Apprentice Program at Chinese Christian Church Milson’s Point. He recently completed his B.Div at Moore Theological College and now serves as assistant minister for the English congregation.

Amy Leong – Childrens Worker
Amy came from Miri (a town in East Malaysia) to live in Australia at the age of 17 and attended University of Western Australia in Perth. It was during her 2nd year in university that she became a Christian. After she became a Christian, she saw the need and the importance of one coming to know Christ personally. As a young Christian she was given many opportunities to serve in different roles and there she developed the passion of training people in ministry. Amy went to a Bible College in Perth after working for 2 years in a university in Malaysia as a marketing staff. She joined Burwood Chinese Presbyterian Church in mid-July 2005 as the children pastor. She is thankful that her family gave her the blessings to come to Sydney although they are living in Malaysia. Amy believes that building up people for the work of the kingdom should start young!

Peter Hughes – Youth Pastor
Peter was born and raised in Sydney’s inner west and has been part of Gracepoint’s evening congregation since 2000. After many years working in the banking industry, Peter left full time work to attend Sydney Missionary and Bible College. As Peter neared the end of his Masters of Divinity degree in 2007, he has taken the role of Youth Pastor for BCPC. His responsibility is to teach, lead and guide a group of high school students called Extreme that meets every Sunday morning from 11am. In his free time, Peter enjoys reading, cycling, swimming and hanging around with friends.

Vivian ToVivian To – part-time Women’s Pastoral Worker
Vivian grew up in a large non-Christian family where fond and difficult times were experienced.  Nevertheless, she views these times valuable because they revealed God’s unfailing love and kindness towards her.  Growing up with 4 other sisters never ceases to give her joy as she plays, hangs and chats endlessly with them, especially on their Sisters’ Day Out.  She worked as a Polymer Chemist prior to studying at the Sydney Missionary Bible College, and currently works p/t at KCC (Katoomba Christian Convention) and spends her other time in church ministries.  Vivian enjoys teaching others to learn new things.  In particular, she loves helping people to come to know and have a firm grip with who Jesus is, and the impact he can have on their lives.

Thomas Lai – Ministry Apprentice
Having worked in the drafting industry for 12 years, Tom commenced on the Ministry Apprenticeship in 2008 to prepare for long term ministry. Having been involved in several short-term missions and church ministry, Tom saw the global needs for the gospel not just locally but overseas. He is currently involved in preaching, discipleship within our youth church, and training emerging leaders in our evening church. The challenge for Tom on MAP is to get a feel for and to experience the challenges of ministry, and how to best respond the them in a Biblical and God honoring way.
